Know every resident within his/her assigned area.
Provide assigned residents the opportunity for educational and social interactions through hall program offerings.
Maintain a working relationship with the respective floor representative(s), hall government officers, and other special interest groups.
Serve as a liaison between residents, University Housing, and other University agencies.
Be thoroughly familiar with all university and residence hall regulations and be responsible for their enforcement. As official University staff members, RAs assume responsibility for maintaining a level of expectation consistent with the educational philosophies of the university.
Assist Housing Maintenance by reporting needed repairs or other concerns in the assigned area to the Facilities Supervisor.
Serve on duty in the residence hall during evening hours on weekdays and on weekends on a rotating basis. Supervisors assume final responsibility for arranging individual hall schedules and setting guidelines for specific halls. Staff will also be required to work during Thanksgiving break as assigned.
Prepare reports and materials designated by the Residence Coordinator/Assistant Coordinator.
Reside full-time in an assigned room in a residence hall. RAs are informed of exact dates of hall openings and closings at the time of employment.
Attend centralized and in-hall RA staff/development meetings and other meetings.
Participate in staff recruitment processes as deemed necessary by supervisor(s) and University Housing Residential Student Experience staff.
Be responsible to the respective Residence Coordinator/Assistant Coordinator for the performance of the above named duties as well as any additional duties assigned.Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalency.
FSU students with a GPA of 2.75, a minimum of two (2) semesters living on campus.
All students who become top candidates for this opening must be in good conduct standing with the University.Other Information University Housing operates on a 12-month calendar. Resident Assistant employees should be prepared to work finals weeks, between sessions, and during breaks (such as Thanksgiving and University holidays). Additionally, Resident Assistants may not work more than a total of 30 hours per week, in combination with any other University-related employment, and may not be employed within any other department of University Housing.
