The Oberlin College Politics Department invites applications for a non-continuing position for Spring semester 2020 in Political Theory. Appointment to this position will be for one semester and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor depending on the qualifications of the candidate.

The Politics Department has thirteen full-time faculty positions and approximately 120 junior and senior majors. Information about the Department can be found at our web site: http://www.oberlin.edu/politics/

The incumbent will teach three courses in the general area of political theory. We seek someone who would be able to teach courses covering the history of European political thought. In addition, expertise in one or more of the following would be welcome: environmental political theory; feminist theory; queer theory; critical race theory; colonialism and postcolonialism; and citizenship.

Among the qualifications required for this appointment is the Ph.D. degree in hand or in progress (ABD). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
