Texas State University has launched a new civil engineering program focused on the breadth of concepts associated with technology-enhanced (Smart) infrastructure. Currently, the program seeks to fill a tenure-line associate professor position in geotechnical engineering to begin fall 2020.

The successful candidate will be expected to establish a program of externally funded collaborative research, exhibit a strong commitment to student-centered teaching and mentoring, teach general civil and geotechnical engineering courses, and perform university and professional service. Required Qualifications

• An earned doctorate in civil engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Professional Licensure/Registration (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure within three years.

To be considered for the rank of associate professor and separately for tenure, the successful candidate must meet the relevant requirements of the Ingram School of Engineering, the College of Science and Engineering, the University, and the Texas State System Board of Regents.

Preferred Qualifications

• An ability to work collaboratively with faculty across multiple departments and programs, particularly related to the application of technology to the monitoring and maintenance of infrastructure assets.
• Demonstrated record of discipline specific research publications in internationally recognized journals and conferences.
• Demonstrated experience writing and securing grants and contracts.
• Evidence of teaching excellence.
• Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
• Industrial, commercialization, or post-doctoral experience.
• Experience in sensor technologies; data transmission, storage, and secure sharing; data analytics; or asset management.
