The Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking an outstanding MD or PhD-scientist in the area of immuno-nephrology. This individual will contribute to research, and other programmatic missions of the Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension.

The Division ofRenal Diseases and Hypertension at the University of Colorado Anschutz MedicalCampus recruits outstanding physicians and PhD scientists across kidneysub-specialties to foster translational kidney research at thelaboratory/clinical interface in an environment that encourages collaborativeteam science. The Division of Nephrology has a long-standing strength inboth basic and clinical research supported by multiple research grants. Thishas resulted in the Division having one of the highest levels of NIH fundingwithin the Department of Medicine.  Areasof strength include 1) basic science studies on acute and chronic kidney injuryand systemic effects of kidney injury on other organs, 2) changes in metabolismon renal inflammation 3) pathways regulating fibrosis in the kidney 4) the roleof complement in glomerular disease; 5) studies on the function and biology ofpodocytes and 6) role of vascular calcification on renal disease and 7) therole of alloantibody in kidney transplantation. We are particularly interestedimmuno-nephrology. Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability todevelop an independent research program as well as an interest in translationalnephrology in the area of immunopathogenesis of kidney disease and/or glomerulonephritis.    


Opportunities to establishcollaborations with faculty in other programs including, for example, theUniversity of Colorado Cancer Center, Colorado Center for personalized Medicineand the Human Immunology & RNA Bioscience Initiative are highly supportedand encouraged

The Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension isinternationally renowned for its clinical and research programs. QualificationsThe ideal applicant will:
  • Have a PhD or MD with post-doctoral research training in immunology and active clinical interest.
  • Applicants with a specific focus in the area of glomerulonephritis are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates with strong backgrounds in immunology, particularly understanding the role of T-cells in kidney disease and proven publication record in biomedical research are strongly encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A record of scholarly achievement and extramural funding.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with learners, faculty, healthcare teams, administrators, and community organizations.
