The Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking an outstanding MD or PhD-scientist in the area of Computational Biology/Computer science. This individual will contribute to research, and other programmatic missions of the Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension.


Kidney researchhas firmly moved in the direction of quantitative and data driven science. Weare seeking exceptional early to mid-career candidates to support ongoingcomputational kidney research and develop independent research programs andhelp growth and advance computationally focused kidney research in the Divisionof Renal Diseases and Hypertension at the University of Colorado AnschutzMedical Campus. We are seeking candidates to join our faculty with researchinterests in one or more of the following topics: single cell profiling andcellular dynamics, kidney microenvironment & immunogenomics, kidneymicrobiome, medical and cellular imaging, natural language processing, machinelearning for kidney data. Candidates research objectives can span questions inbasic kidney biology, clinical translations, computational methods, and/orlarge-scale data analysis.


Opportunities to establishcollaborations with faculty in other programs including, for example, theUniversity of Colorado Cancer Center, Colorado Center for personalized Medicineand the Human Immunology & RNA Bioscience Initiative are highly supportedand encouraged.

The Division of RenalDiseases and Hypertension is internationally renowned for its clinical andresearch programs. In addition, as one of the largest Nephrology research andtraining program in the Country, the Division is also internationallyrecognized for its role in producing academic leaders in Nephrology. The Division has trained a large number of academicNephrology physicians in this Country who are currently practicing. The Division consists of over 50 faculty located inthree hospitals and one research institute. These include University ofColorado Hospital, Denver Veterans Administration Hospital, and Denver Health.The Division Mission is to develop the next generation of leaders in Nephrology through itstransformative research, comprehensive career development, and world-classcare. The Division Vision is to be the source of superior healthcare, pushboundaries of discovery, advance medical education and create hope for patientswith kidney disease through cutting edge treatments and kidney transplantation.

QualificationsThe ideal applicant will:
  • Have a PhD or MD with post-doctoral research training in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Candidates with strong backgrounds in machine learning, algorithm development, mathematical modeling, and/or data science and bioinformatics with proven publication record in biomedical research and/or applied data-driven discovery are strongly encouraged to apply. 
  • A demonstrated commitment to education and mentorship or medical and graduate students, residents and fellows.

Preferred qualifications:
  •  A record of scholarly achievement and extramural funding.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with learners, faculty, healthcare teams, administrators, and community organizations.
