Job Description:

The School of Sciences and Engineering at the American University in Cairo has openings for four faculty positions at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor.

As part of their teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will be teaching undergraduate courses in the general engineering (ENGR) curriculum including "Introduction to Engineering", "Engineering Mechanics," "Strength and Testing of Materials," "Engineering Analysis and Computation I" and "Engineering Economy." In addition, the successful candidate will be encouraged to develop and/or teach course(s) in their area of expertise. The School is home to programs in Architectural, Computer, Construction, inclusive of Environmental Engineering, Electronic/Communication, and Mechanical and Petroleum Engineering. However, the School is embarking on initiatives that also welcome Agricultural, Chemical and Biomedical Engineering and has ongoing activities in Sustainability and Renewable Energy. Thus, we welcome applicants from diverse engineering backgrounds, provided that they are qualified in contributing to the general engineering curriculum.

In addition, the successful candidate is expected to be active in research and service in his/her field of specialization.


Requirements:

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree and experience related to one of the engineering specialties cited above. He/she should have a demonstrated track record of teaching and research. Solid record of professional practical experience and establish record in attracting funded research is preferred.
