Department Florida State University’s School of Teacher Education in the College of Education invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-earning assistant professor position in English Education. We are particularly interested in candidates who complement and enhance the English Education (combined BS/MS; MS; Ph.D.) programmatic emphasis on social justice and educating teachers to work with underserved student populations (https://education.fsu.edu/degrees-and-programs/curriculum-and-instruction/english-education-m-s-d).

A strong record or promise of scholarship as indicated by peer-reviewed journal publications, conference presentations, and collaborative projects;

A clear research agenda in an area of English education, teacher education, or English teacher learning;

Commitment to social justice education and experience working with diverse student populations;

Three-years experience teaching in secondary schools;

Experience teaching courses in English Education and/or teacher education at the university level.Preferred Experience mentoring pre- and in-service teachers working with historically underserved and minoritized students;

Commitment to supporting teachers developing knowledge and practices in research-based, student-centered, responsive, critical, and culturally relevant teaching;

Demonstrated ability to build and sustain collaborative relationships with schools;

Ability to teach a wide range of English education and literacy courses grounded in sociocultural, sociocognitive, or sociocritical perspectives on literacy
