Hofstra University is a dynamic community of more than 11,000 students from around the world who are dedicated to civic engagement, academic excellence and becoming leaders in their communities and their careers.Description:Reporting to the Director of Event Management and Conference Services, the Assistant Director of Event Management is a full time senior level administrative position that is responsible for coordinating event logistics for over 200 undergraduate and graduate student clubs and organizations and requests for administrative and academic departments.

This position will work in conjunction with the Office of Student Leadership and Engagement to guide the student process of planning, seeking approvals and budgeting of student club and organization events. This position will also work with various administrative and academic departments to schedule and communicate meeting room usage, audiovisual and campus operations support for administrative and academic departments. The Assistant Director will assist in the oversite of these events and provide necessary support to ensure that all resources and operational logistics are successfully executed.

The Assistant Director will recruit, hire, train, schedule and supervise graduate student staff; provide mandatory onsite support for campus wide university events such as commencement, admissions recruitment events and festivals; other duties as assigned. This position requires evening hours Monday through Friday during the academic year. This position also requires occasional weekend hours as needed.

Scheduled hours include:

Monday, Wednesday-Friday 12:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Schedule Subject to change seasonally.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree required. Masters Degree in related area preferred. A minimum of three years of full time experience in a related area, experience in a higher education setting preferred. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise graduate and undergraduate student staff. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, written and oral communication/presentation skills. Ability to work effectively and ethically with a diverse population of students, faculty/administrators, and community members. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint required. Proficiency in 25 Live, Web TMA, Visio or similar software highly preferred. Ability to learn new software as needed.
