This means we need your proven web development experience using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as well as your Tableau experience to create data dashboards, websites, and modern visualizations. Your web skills can help to improve policy, advance practice, and strengthen communities. Our advanced research institute excels in data science, statistical analysis and visualization. This position will join the Data Science and Visualization (DataViz) team at IFS. The DataViz team is responsible for processing raw data, pulling down Census data, conducting geospatial analysis, maintaining GIS data files, creating automation routines for processes, creating GIS maps, creating and maintaining web applications, creating tables and charts, and building full reports. This position will use Tableau, Material Design, JavaScript, and other products/software to create internal dashboards and external web products for the IFS.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, information technology or a related field and 2 years of experience in web development and Tableau.
•Proven web development experience using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
•A solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices.
•Ability to manipulate code efficiently using an IDE or advanced text editor.
•Experience with software documentation (creation and maintenance).
•Experience working with APIs and REST services.
•Knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems & Object Oriented Programming concepts
•Experience with designing Tableau dashboards
•Proficient knowledge of Tableau to create business intelligence reports and visualizations
•Experience with connecting to and working with large data sets in Tableau (10M+ record data sets, 10k+ data points to visualize)

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience with GIS software and WebGIS
•Backend development experience with Java and/or Python.
•Pattern Recognition
•Graphic design
•AWS cloud experience
•Knowledge of public health and healthcare concepts and methods
•Experience working with health-related datasets (Medicaid/Medicare, hospitalizations, births, cancer, etc.)


•Proficiency developing and updating technical documentation and training materials for client business stakeholders to serve as reference
•Demonstrated ability to successfully manage competing priorities & deliverables in a fast-paced, dead-line oriented environment
•Superior organizational, problem solving, and analysis skills
•Ability to work independently with limited supervision and manage multiple priorities
•Ability to perform data investigation (e.g., data source identification, feasibility of joins, determine data reasonableness based on business insights)
•Strong oral and written communication skills
•Task oriented; Team player
