ECU Family Medicine is currently seeking a Federal Work Study Nutrition Assistant to assist in overseeing and working in the Medical Food Pantry, a joint project with ECU, Vidant, and the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC – located on Moye Blvd. The Food Pantry serves patients who are food insecure as well as patients of Vidant Hospital and/or ECU Physicians. The ideal student will be able to manage, recruit, and schedule volunteers to man the pantry from Monday through Friday and volunteer coverage between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The position will consist of 20 hours per week. The student should be available to work between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The student’s schedule can be flexible. This student will check the volunteer schedule in advance to assure coverage, work to recruit volunteers for empty shifts, and communicate to the supervisor if there is lack of coverage. The student will work with ECU and community groups to recruit volunteers. Duties may include working at the pantry some shifts to ensure coverage. Other duties may include assisting with some of the Medical Food Pantry daily operational needs.
