_Mail Courier

This position provides mail/parcel pickup and delivery service for internal campus and satellite sites.

Essential Functions:

1.Sort mail from on-site mailbox every morning, deliver and pick up to assigned location in each building, return to mail room to sort.
2.Deliver and pick up mail at all satellite sites per schedule.
3.Weigh parcels on scale and compute mailing cost based on weight and destination.
4.Answer questions pertaining to mail regulations and procedures.
5.Prepare certified and/or registered mail and forward receipts to sender.
6.Process mail in the afternoon and deliver to postal services for disposition.
7.Drop off parcels to Mail Call for UPS shipping as needed.
8.Maintain mailroom in a neat and orderly manner to insure efficiency.
9.Train for relief of Supervisor Mail Room Shipping and Receiving during absences.
10.Serves as relief for Supervisor Mail Room Shipping and Receiving during absences.


Supplemental Functions:

1.Serve on college committees.
2.Participates in other college activities as assigned by the Mail Room Supervisor.
3.Deliver/pick up miscellaneous items to/from sites as requested.
4.Other duties as assigned.

Requirements of the Position

Education, Training and Experience Required:

1.Knowledge of postal regulations and procedures, how to stamp, register and weigh mail.
2.Ability to operate a postal scale.
3.High school diploma or equivalent.
4.Experience in working with the public.
5.Must possess a valid Tennessee driver’s license.
6.Must have a safe driving history.
7.Proficiency with computers.
8.Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

2.Must be able to work independently.


Working Conditions:

1.Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, normal walking, stooping, bending, and ability to drive a vehicle 4 to 5 hours daily.
2.Exposure to all weather conditions.
