Description:

The General Engineering Program at Clemson University invites applications for multiple openings for the position of Lecturer to begin in the Spring 2020 or Fall 2020 semester. Candidates should have a passion for teaching fundamental mathematical and physical concepts to first year engineering students. Experience using MATLAB or a similar programming language is required. Experience with SolidWorks or AutoCAD is also desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate a dedication to inclusive excellence in higher education, a scholarly focus on underserved populations and a commitment to teaching and mentoring beginning engineering students, including those who may be underprepared for an engineering education. The General Engineering Program is a common first-year engineering program and serves as the gateway to the engineering majors.

The Program seeks to attract an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of teaching, discovery, application, and integration of knowledge. Classes in General Engineering are taught in the SCALE-UP active learning environment. As such, the successful candidate must have the communication skills and energy to motivate students in large classes in a dynamic, interactive environment. Additionally, lecturers are expected to work in close collaboration with other faculty members in the Program to ensure consistent and coordinated instruction, grading, and assessment of learning outcomes. Candidates must have at least a Master’s degree in an ABET accredited engineering discipline, but a PhD in an engineering discipline is strongly preferred. The General Engineering Program is fully committed to an ethnically diverse faculty and student body.
