Department The Visual Disabilities Program in the School of Teacher Education at Florida State University invites applications for an instructional position at the rank of Teaching Faculty I in Visual Disabilities. We seek a colleague to support the Visual Disabilities Program in their commitment to preparing high-quality professionals to provide services to individuals with visual impairments. The successful candidate will coordinate the BS/MS Visual Disabilities pathway (https://education.fsu.edu/degrees-and-programs/visual-disabilities) and the stand alone master’s degree programs. Our goal is to prepare teaching professionals who not only transform the lives of their students, but also seek to improve their schools, communities, academic disciplines, and professions.

Serve on student graduate committees.

Coordinate the Visual Disabilities program, including but not limited to: (a) advising and mentoring, (b) coordinating field experiences (i.e., practicum and internship), (c) supervising field experiences (i.e., practicum and internship), (d) actively participating in recruitment efforts.

Meet administrative expectations related to maintaining and reporting of program standards and activities as required by the state, college, university, and the professional discipline, course scheduling, identification and support of instructors, adhering to processes for the approval of new courses; and other management activities.

Provide service to schools, the University, Department, College, and the profession.

Grow and support existing partnerships/relationships with regional providers of services to individuals with visual impairments.

Prepare grant proposals to potential funding agencies.

Administer existing grant activities.Qualifications Earned doctorate in visual disabilities, special education, or a related field

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

Certification as a teacher of students with visual impairments

Significant experience and leadership in one or more PreK-12 educational settings

Commitment to and experience with working with diverse student populations

Experience teaching visual disabilities methods courses

Experience coordinating certification programs (including state-level reporting)

Experience mentoring pre-service and in-service teachersPreferred Successful grant management and writingContact Info Contact Information:
