Job Title:Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Archaeology of East AsiaJob Family:Furman FacultyFull-Time/Part-Time:Full timeCompensation Grade:FACPay Type:SalaryDepartment:Asian StudiesJob Summary:The Department of Asian Studies and Anthropology Program at Furman University invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track Archaeology of East Asia position beginning August 2020 at the assistant, associate, or full level.Job Description:We seek an archaeologist with teaching and research specialization in East Asia and/or Southeast Asia and experience directing or running a field school and/or willingness to start one. A successful candidate will have experience directing student inquiry and research; commitment to engaged anthropology; and eagerness to teach undergraduates in a liberal arts setting. Furman values and supports interdisciplinarity and is especially interested in hiring faculty who will contribute to The Furman Advantage. The teaching load is 3-2. In addition to courses in the candidate’s areas of expertise, the candidate will ideally be prepared to teach introductory courses in archaeology and Asian Studies as well as anthropological theory and methods. Ability to teach GIS mapping and analysis is desired. PhD in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field is required at the time of appointment.
