Assistant Professor - Urban or Environmental Economics

Job Field The Department of Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus invites applications for one full-time tenure stream appointment in Urban Economics or Environmental Economics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and commence on July 1, 2020, or shortly thereafter.

 

Applicants must have earned a PhD in Economics or related area by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching in Urban or Environmental Economics. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement our existing departmental strengths. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct innovative and independent research at the highest international level, and to establish an outstanding, competitive, externally funded research program. The position comes with undergraduate and graduate teaching responsibilities.

 

Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in research of the highest international caliber, as can be demonstrated by an innovative job market paper with a significant contribution to the literature and strong recommendations by referees of high standing,  high quality working papers publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, presentations at significant conferences, accolades, and awards. 

 

Evidence of excellence in teaching can be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, strong letters of references, a statement of teaching philosophy, teaching evaluations and sample syllabi, or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities submitted as part of the application. Other teaching-related activities can include  performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, as well as excellent conference presentations or posters.

 
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
