Position Summary

Member of the Office of Sponsored Programs’ (OSP) Contracts Team responsible for drafting, negotiating, and executing agreements related to NYU’s sponsored program activity. The Contract and Grant Administrator carries out the core functions of the central office by creating and establishing agreements on behalf of NYU that conform with University and sponsor guidelines, interpreting and communicating sponsor expectations and requirements to research administration colleagues and faculty to ensure agreements are properly administered, and performing risk assessments and monitoring activities of NYU’s collaborators. Contract and Grant Administrator contributes to OSP's research development mission by assisting faculty in selecting and assessing collaborators and ensuring they have the tools needed to comply with University and sponsor requirements in the oversight and management of their collaborating partners. Contract and Grant Administrator works in partnership with Faculty, School and Department administrators, and OSP colleagues to establish and implement best practices and creative solutions to conducted sponsored activities, including collaborating with third parties to fulfill the requirements of sponsored program activity undertaken by the University. Contract and Grant Administrator are expected to and will be successful in developing strong relationships with their school/department/unit level colleagues and tailor service levels to meet the specific and individual needs of each school/department/unit they serve.

Qualifications

Required Education:Bachelor’s degreePreferred Education:Master's degreeRequired Experience:At least 2 years’ experience in contract negotiation including the review and negotiation of various types of sponsored programs agreements or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and administrative abilities. Collaborative, results-oriented individual with the capacity to take responsibility and be accountable for meeting deadlines, prioritizing, working under pressure and understanding and respecting the needs of a wide range of divergent interests. Must be exceptionally responsive, able to work independently, interactively and collaboratively with faculty, research staff, administrators, and external granting entities. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Critical reading, writing, and thinking skills are integral to success in this position. A team-oriented professional who multi-tasks and prioritizes well, takes initiative, and works effectively both independently and with others. Detail-oriented as well as able to see the big picture. Humor, flexibility and other personal skills required to succeed in a deadline driven environment. The ideal candidates will be adaptable, skilled at leveraging influence without authority, energized by change, able to maintain composure with differences of opinion and under deadline pressures, be team-oriented, goal-oriented, and have the ability to simplify, identify priorities and retain a collegial and friendly attitude.
