Duties/Responsibilities:

The position is expected to be for two years, pending funding and satisfactory performance (additional years possible.) This position serves key roles as research investigator and industry liaison for the research, educational, and engagement missions of supporting aging through research in healthcare technologies; design for aging; technology acceptance; human-technology interaction; aging-in-place; cognitive aging; aging with disabilities; and/or user experience. Job responsibilities will be to conduct research, investigate new ideas, reinterpret established ideas, and disseminate results of research through media appropriate to discipline. The Institute of Gerontology faculty will provide grant training and writing, with opportunities to contribute to existing and establish new research programs, and obtain research grants or contracts with faculty mentors as PI/Co-I. The Institute of Gerontology is funded by: the National Institutes of Health, as part of Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) and Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) programs; public-private research ventures and private industry funding.

Position Summary:

The UGA Institute of Gerontology, and interdisciplinary research, teaching, and outreach unit, is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow to serve as a research investigator to support aging through research in healthcare technologies; design for aging; technology acceptance; human-technology interaction; aging-in-place; cognitive aging; aging with disabilities; and/or user experience.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:

PhD in computer science, human-computer interaction, interactive computing, psychology, human factors, or related field.
Domain knowledge in human-technology interaction, aging, user experience (UX), health technology, or smart home technologies is required; ability to effectively work and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds such as academia, industry, and the community. Experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative research methodology.
