Preferred QualificationsPosition Summary

This laboratory uses rodent models to investigate the biological impact of diet on brain function, and also the role of the brain in feeding behavior. The Research Professional will be responsible for a variety of tasks in the laboratory. This is a position for an individual with strong leadership skills and expert level knowledge in the laboratory. Tasks include ordering, maintaining laboratory equipment, training students, running a variety of assays (including but not limited to) immunohistochemistry, Western Blotting, fluorescence in situ hybridization and RT PCR. The successful candidate will be involved in modifying protocols, development of experimental design, and writing research reports. This Research Professional will be responsible managing chemicals in the lab, keeping detailed records, and overseeing general lab safety protocols. The candidate will also be expected to perform rodent surgeries and rodent behavioral experiments on occasion (training will be provided).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Western Blot, RT PCR, Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel), Adobe illustrator preferred but not required.

Troubleshoot protocols and develop experimental designs to ensure the success of molecular biology experiments in the wet lab, rodent behavioral and rodent surgical work. Conduct a variety of assays (including but not limited to) immunohistochemistry, Western Blotting, fluorescence in situ hybridization and RT PCR. Perform rodent surgeries and rodent behavioral experiments as needed. Maintain detailed records and writing protocols and research reports on experimental outcomes. Identify and learn new techniques to further research of the lab.
