•Five years of applicable experience in web design and development.
•Experience with server-side scripting with PHP.
•Experience with API middleware like Express and fetching and parsing API data in JSON or XML format using REST based APIs.
•Knowledge of application security issues and defense against the OWASP top 10 application vulnerabilities like XSS and injection attacks.
•Experience with data manipulation in relational databases like mySQL, and PostgreSQL and/or non-relational database technologies like MongoDB.
•Experience with version control using technologies like Git. And cloud-based repositories like GitHub and BitBucket.
•Experience with code linting and debugging technologies like ESLint or others.
•Knowledge of Section 508 Accessibility standards (WCAG 2.x ADA compliance) and best practices for digital media.
•Strong understanding of industry best practices and content management systems, particularly Wordpress and Expression Engine. Experience with multiple website platforms preferred.
•Experience in marketing automation (e.g., MailChimp, Wufoo), Google analytics, social media and online marketing.
•Familiarity with optimizing video, photography, and other media for digital consumption.
•Experience in project management tools and creative media tools.
The Web Developer Specialist’s role is to manage the evolving digital presence of the Office of the Dean of Students (ODOS) and the five departments that report to the dean: Disability Resource Center, Student Care and Outreach, Student Veterans Resource Center, Tate Student Center, and University Testing Services. Reporting to and working directly with the assistant to the dean of students for marketing and communications, the Web Developer Specialist helps to coordinate and participates in the implementation of digital promotional ideas and marketing activities for the ODOS and its departments; works closely with colleagues to develop and manage online media content as well as digital business models and registration mechanisms; and co-manages multiple social media platforms. The successful candidate will have extensive experience building content management platforms and training multiple content managers.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
