Procurement Specialist & Accountant

Position Information:
  • Position Purpose The Procurement Specialist and Accountant is a key member of the fiscal department.The primary responsibility of the position is the purchasing of goods and services for the college in accordance to its policies and procedures.The position will also be responsible for various accounting functions within the fiscal department as assigned by the supervisor.This position will be a part of implementing new processes to support the College's growth and mission. The annual salary range for this position is: $34,000 - 37,000.
    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Primary responsibilities include the following, to be assigned by supervisor:
    • Ensure that goods and services are purchased and delivered in a timely and cost-effective manner
    • Work with supervisor to ensure that budget managers are:
      • Planning ahead to allow for sufficient time to allow for the purchase of goods in an efficient manner
      • Operating budgets in a prudent manner, including utilization of cost-effective vendors and ensuring purchases align with college's budget
    • Provide centralized purchasing and inventory management of general supplies
    • Research vendor pricing and recommend cost effective solutions
    • Work with accounts payable to ensure timely payment of invoices
    • Support the internal audit function of the fiscal department
    • Provide backup to the accounts payable function of the fiscal department
    • Provide support to the fixed assets function of the fiscal department
    • Operating within college's policies and procedures
    • Other duties as assigned

    Position Requirements:
  • Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Skills
    • Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
    • 1 to 3 years of purchasing experience preferred
    • Accurate and thorough in completing tasks
    • Attention to detail
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • High level of integrity
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Knowledge of general accounting principles
    • Proficient in technology related to the field
