St. Lawrence University invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in public health to begin August 15, 2020. We are interested in a broadly trained public health scholar with a transdisciplinary approach to the practice of public health. Applicants whose interests include community-based or participatory methods are particularly encouraged to apply.
St. Lawrence University recently developed a very popular and rapidly expanding Public Health minor. The minor is firmly rooted in the liberal arts, and allows students to choose from more than 60 courses across 20 different academic departments/programs. In addition, students are required to undertake an experiential learning component (ELC) where they are pushed to experience public health outside of the classroom. As St. Lawrence begins the process of expanding the program to include a Public Health major, we are looking for a new and inspiring colleague to help shape the vision for the program. The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Public Health, Epidemiology, and upper level courses in their area of expertise. The successful candidate will demonstrate an active research agenda with opportunities to engage undergraduate students in research, and the promise of excellence in teaching in a liberal arts environment. The teaching load is three courses per semester.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in public health, epidemiology, community health, or a related field or DrPH at the time of appointment.
Interested applicants must apply online at http://employment.stlawu.edu uploading all required materials which are defined in the “special instructions to applicant” section. Review of applications begins November 1, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled. Questions about the position may be sent to Dr. Mindy Pitre (mpitre@stlawu.edu), Search Chair.
All offers of employment are contingent upon the finalist successfully passing a background (including criminal records) check.
