UHealth IT has an amazing opportunity for a Security Engineer. The Security Engineer helps to safeguard the University’s computer networks and systems. This employee also plans and implement security measures to monitor and protect sensitive data and systems from infiltration and cyber-attacks.

The primary job functions are the following:

Experience with administration of and reporting from a Security Information Event

Management (SIEM) tool, preferably Splunk.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience in a healthcare delivery organization or related business environment

preferred.

• Conduct real-time analysis using the SIEM and other security analytic tools, with a focus

on identifying security events and false positives. Analyze/triage potential security

incidents and escalate for action or additional analysis.

• Hands on experience with threat hunting tools, incident intake, ticket updates and

reporting of cybersecurity events.

• Research and leverage cybersecurity intelligence sources to improve incident detection

and response capabilities.

• Independently follow established procedures to investigate, escalate, contain, and/or

eradicate malicious activity.

• Experience with administration and reporting of Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR).

• Responsible for correlation and initial triage of security events and indicators generated

by security monitoring tools.

• Experience with Vulnerability Assessment Tool management and reporting.

• Knowledge of UDP, TCP/IP Protocols and network/security applications and ability to

investigate and evaluate network traffic, read and interpret logs and packet captures.

• Experience with scripting for task automation (e.g. Bash, Python, Golang, PowerShell,

etc.).

• Understanding, identifying and researching IOCs for detection and blocking.

• Develop and deliver written and oral reports to aggregate and communicate security

information and metrics as well as assist and communicate to foster collaboration and

support a team approach to operations.

• Security Certification such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, SANS GIAC, GCIH, CEH, ECSA,

CHFI, CND, CCNA or similar preferred.

• Critical thinking and analytical skills.

• Functions well under pressure.

• Experience using the following tools preferred, Splunk, Fidelis, CarbonBlack,

StealthWatch, and Qualys preferred.

The minimum requirements are a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience required. Certification and Licensing: Certification in relevant specialty or field preferred.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
