Job Details
Core Duties:
- Oversee and administer research activities by evaluating projects, making recommendations that impact policies and programs, and coordinating and implementing changes;
- Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends to determine project effectiveness; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the project;
- Help lead design experimentation and stakeholder testing;
- Drafting, reviewing, and managing Schema.org markup for legal help websites
- Managing audits of search engine algorithms regarding legal help information
- Scoping and contributing to the development of new application software that provide self-represented litigants support in navigating legal procedure
- Development of new automated bots and tools to spot legal issues on online forums, to refer people to legal help sources
- Conduct research, writing, and analysis, and organize policy workshops;
- Manage projects with multiple stakeholders efficiently, while communicating with partners effectively;
Minimum Requirements:Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree and advanced degree in law (JD, LLM, or masters). Two years of relevant experience.
Strong candidates will have experience in one or more of the following: program administration, project management, research, building of legal technology tools, and policy or design work.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization.
- Creation and management of datasets, and data analysis.
- Project management with multiple stakeholders.
- Creativity in solving problems presented in complex systems or organizations, particularly through the use of design thinking.
- Ability to build technology tools and platforms.

The Center
The Center on the Legal Profession, directed by Professor Deborah L. Rhode, supports research, teaching, programs, and public policy initiatives on crucial issues facing the bar. Key concerns include how to enhance access to justice, sustain ethical values, train lawyers as leaders, and effectively respond to the changing dynamics of legal workplaces.
The Legal Design Lab
The Legal Design Lab is an interdisciplinary project in law and design, working at the intersection of human-centered design, technology, and law to build a new generation of legal products and services. The Lab’s mission is to train a new generation of leaders & innovators in law, research innovation in practice & delivery of legal services, and build new models of legal services. The Lab is headed by Director and Lecturer Margaret Hagan. The bulk of the Lab’s work is project-based and involves partnerships across the Stanford campus and beyond.
