These positions will rotate between Hillcrest (primary location) and Jacobs Medical Center.

DESCRIPTION

Currently seeking per diem critical care NICU RNs with a minimum of two years level III NICU, high acuity patient experience. Under general supervision, embodies the following characteristics: Demonstrated level three clinical skills and ability to evaluate results for critically ill neonate patients. Demonstrated ability to identify and implement nursing interventions as appropriate for critically ill neonate patients.

Demonstrated patient advocate. Directs and acts as resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned, supports student learning, and is willing to precept new employees. Nurses hired will be eligible to attend high-risk deliveries with experience after orientation. Nurses who apply must be committed to professional development, who promote compliance and support of policies. Participation in unit-based shared governance activities encouraged. Ability to achieve trust in professional relationships and must possess excellent communication skills.

Must be able to work within a busy team environment. Will float according to skill set and minimally to the Postpartum unit (postpartum consists of couplet care and the NICU nurse is responsible for infant care when floating unless qualified in couplet care). A demonstrated spirit of divisional collegiality and teamwork is expected. Variable shift positions with some orientation on both shifts to complete orientation. Emphasis on professionalism, skill development and teamwork with best patient outcomes and satisfaction for both patients and staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • Current California RN license.

  • BART or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • NRP certification.

  • At least two (2) years of NICU level III (or IV) RN experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN.
  • ACLS/ART certification.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • High risk delivery attendance.
  • Six months or more of delivery room experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Primarily night shift with the possibility of an occasional day shift dependent on unit need.
  • Must be available 1 weekend shift every 4 weeks and 1 major holiday. This is subject to change based on department needs.
