Clinical Assistant Professor

TheDepartment of Electrical Engineering in the College of Engineering, Design and Computingat the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a non-tenuretrack position of Assistant Professor, Clinical Teaching Track. The individualin this position will develop and teach courses in the areas of electrical andcomputer engineering, conduct scholarly research in their area of expertise, participate inprofessional service and outreach activities, and contributeto the academic success of engineering students through student advising andstudent project supervision.  Teachingassignments may include online, evening and Friday courses.
Reporting to the chair of the department, the successful candidate will be expected to teach lecture and laboratory courses at all levels; aid in developing new courses throughout the undergraduate curriculum that focus on interdisciplinary and human-centered design; participate in curriculum modernization and implement effective pedagogies; participate in undergraduate student advising; and lead student groups, including learning communities and extracurricular club teams.  

The Electrical EngineeringDepartment currently employs 12 full-time faculty members. The department offers a Bachelor of Sciencedegree in Electrical Engineering accredited by ABET, a Master of Sciencedegree, a Master of Engineering degree and a multidisciplinary PhD degree inEngineering and Applied Science. We maintain excellent teaching and researchprograms in computer engineering, signal processing, communications, controls,energy and power systems, neural-engineering and electromagnetics.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: The candidate must have a Ph.D. in electrical or computer engineering or a closely related field by the date of hire and experience as an effective educator.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year experience teaching a wide range of courses in the field of computer engineering and engineering design
  • Experience leading extracurricular student groups including learning communities and club teams
  • Experience with/interest in collaborative, interdisciplinary education
  • Familiarity with online training techniques and technologies
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and student success
  • Experience in course and curriculum development
  • Publications in scholarly research journals
