DescriptionTemple University is a state-related Carnegie Research University (highest research activity) located in Philadelphia.  The College of Liberal Arts is home to 38 undergraduate majors, 38 minors, 22 certificate programs, 14 doctoral programs, 18 master’s programs, and 6 graduate certificates.  With its vibrant and diverse array of educational programs, the College of Liberal Arts plays a tremendous role in Temple University’s academic success and its mission mirrors both the historical importance of the liberal arts in society and the principles on which the university was founded. 
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Academic Initiatives, the Assistant Director, Academic Affairs manages and supports the execution of academic affairs policies, new initiatives, and events for all of the College of Liberal Arts Programs. The Assistant Director will plan and manage the recurring student and faculty events and ceremonies that fall throughout each academic year including Convocation and other student and faculty welcome events, Graduation, Baccalaureate and other award ceremonies, student recruitment events and faculty and research receptions. The Assistant Director will directly support the Associate Dean in organizing, scheduling and administering faculty committees and meetings, drafting proposals of academic initiatives for review, administering special projects and acting as a point of contact and correspondence for the Associate Dean’s office.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years of experience in large and small events planning. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 
Required Skills & Abilities:
*Knowledge of the principles of effective event planning, promotion, and execution*Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills*Excellent public speaking ability*Comfort with the use of technology and media*Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe*Comfort with interacting with VIP guests*An affinity and proven track record for teamwork and an ability to work well with a broad range of constituencies, as well as the ability to work autonomously when needed*Ability to maintain initiative, be proactive with projects, and show a positive attitude while providing recommendations and solutions that support leadership directives.*A comfort level for working under pressure to meet deadlines and for using sound judgement making decisions.*Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while being detail-oriented, highly organized, & creative*Ability to be service and results-oriented *Ability to complete assigned short- and long-term projects through collaborative process with supervisor, including planning for the accomplishment of stated goals, prioritizing activities, tracking and reporting progress on projects, and making midterm adjustments as priorities shift. *An understanding of the value of a Liberal Arts education.
Preferred:*English, Communications or other relevant degree*Experience in high level administrative support
