General Summary of Position:

The Part-Time Academic Advisor & Student Support Specialist’s main focus is to assist in managing the advising and academic success of all undergraduate students at UMass Lowell. The position will assist the current Coordinator of Advising and Tutoring Services on South Campus to create a strong foundation for student life in the Centers for Learning & Academic Support Services (CLASS) at UMass Lowell.

The successful candidate will focus on advising undergraduate students with registering for classes, SiS support, Advisement Reports, What-if Reports and Change of Major. The position will support the growth of the South Campus Centers for Learning location by assisting with additional programming and academic support initiatives. The position will assist the Coordinator with organization of tutoring scheduling, front desk scheduling and outreach efforts. The position will also be acting as a graduate liaison between undergraduates and UMass Lowell departments and resources.

S/he will attend Centers for Learning professional staff meetings.

The Part-Time Academic Advisor & Student Support Specialist will have multiple opportunities for professional development. The position will allow for attending and presenting at professional advising conferences.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters preferred
  • 3 - 5 years experience

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefited, non-unit position. The position is for 18 hours per week.
