Job Description:

The Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management invites applications for one tenure-track position with an emphasis on teaching Sport Finance or Sport Economics.

The position opening is for an Assistant / Associate / Full Professor in Sport Management (Open Rank). Applicants should be able to lead our departmental efforts in either Sport Finance or Sport Economics, which includes teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Applicants with the expertise needed to teach Sport Finance or Sport Economics at the graduate level are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants with interests teaching other courses may also apply, so long as they can lead our efforts in Sport Finance or Sport Economics as well.


The ability to conduct scholarly sport related research is required. Candidates must demonstrate either potential for high-quality sport related research (Junior Faculty) or an established research record (Senior Faculty) in top sport management journals to meet the expectations of a sport management program housed in a business school. Willingness to work with doctoral students is viewed favorably as well. The department values high quality teaching and student engagement; thus, candidates must provide evidence of / potential for excellence in teaching in either Sport Finance or Sport Economics. Qualified candidates should have completed their Ph.D. in Sport Management, Business, or a related field on or before August 31, 2020.

The Mark H. McCormack Department of Sport Management, one of the nation’s oldest, is located in the Isenberg School of Management. It offers BS, MS, MBA/MS, and PhD programs and is home to eleven full-time and several part-time faculty members. The University of Massachusetts is home to the Mark H. McCormack Collection – the archives of sports business innovator Mark H. McCormack and his company, IMG.
