DepartmentUnder general direction of the Manager, Human Resources, the Payroll & Human Resources Administrator is responsible for the monthly and bi-weekly payroll function for the Faculty of Dentistry and providing pension and benefits advice to all academic and administrative staff at the Faculty.
The incumbent maintains up to date knowledge of benefit and pension plans, acts as a resource person for employees and responds to a variety of benefit inquiries, providing advice, investigating and resolving problems. The incumbent schedules and conducts orientation sessions for all appointed staff. He/she provides advice on complex payroll and salary administration issues, and interprets related human resources policies, procedures and legislation on a regular basis, referring to central benefits/payroll/pension specialists as appropriate.

The incumbent is responsible for the integrity of the data entered into the HRIS system and HRIS reporting, including HR/payroll information, attendance tracking, and data management. The incumbent has overall responsibility for the records management of all employee files stored within Human Resources, ensuring compliance with legislation. As part of the Faculty’s HR team, works closely with others, maintaining a high level of confidentiality.

Campus(Minimum)

Education: Relevant post-secondary education with Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification with the Canadian Payroll Association or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of payroll experience using SAP/HRIS, or similar software, to process and administer payroll. Experience with collective agreements and relevant employment policies. Experience with Kronos and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook. Experience creating reports and managing employee records.

Skills: Superior organizational skills. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Excellent keyboarding and computer skills. Strong client service orientation, interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a variety of people. Very good oral and written communication skills.

Other: Comprehensive knowledge of payroll, pension, benefits, tax and records management policies, procedures, applications and related legislation. Accuracy and an attention to detail. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work under pressure. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
