Your opportunity:

The Experiential Learning and Outreach Support office at the Faculty of Arts & Science has a mandate to grow quality experiential learning opportunities for Arts & Science students, including work-integrated learning, career-engaged learning and community-engaged learning opportunities. Under the general direction of the Director, Experiential Learning and Outreach Support, the incumbent will provide high-level administrative support and coordination for experiential learning programming for Arts & Science students, with oversight for research and international programs such as the Research Opportunity Program (ROP), the Research Excursion Program (REP), the Dean’s International & Indigenous Initiatives Fund (DIIIF), and International Course Modules (ICMs). The incumbent will coordinate the adjudication of a range of funding opportunities relating to international and research experiences. They will serve as a liaison between Arts & Science academic and administrative units, various institutional offices, and the Office of the Dean.

The Experiential Learning Officer will also gather information and conduct analyses on current research and international opportunities. They will conduct research on new and emerging approaches and initiatives to identify ways to expand opportunities for A&S students. The incumbent will develop communications and engage in outreach to help promote A&S opportunities.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for assigned projects
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for program and service activities
  • Implementing plans that support the development of work-integrated learning opportunities for students
  • Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities
  • Analyzing and making recommendations for programming enhancements
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance


CampusEssential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in an arts and science-related discipline or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of related, progressively responsible administrative experience in a University setting.
  • Experience working in undergraduate student learning and development, student activities/student life, or university teaching.
  • Experience in a relationship building role, preferably within a post-secondary institution (which should include a track record of success in building and maintaining relationships).
  • Experience planning and implementing projects.
  • Experience compiling and analyzing data, written reports and other materials, working on time-sensitive projects and managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience providing administrative support to established processes.
  • Experience with databases and conducting statistical analyses.
  • Experience with the use of social media applications.
  • Experience conducting research in higher education.
  • Experience writing documents intended for multiple audiences, including for publication or public distribution.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders comfortably and professionally with a customer-service orientation and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
