Located seventeen miles from downtown Chicago, Oakton serves northern Cook County with campuses in Des Plaines and Skokie, Illinois.
We have an opening for dual credit Law Enforcement faculty beginning with the Spring 2020 semester. Qualified applicants will currently be employed by Evanston Township High School as a teacher.
Oakton has an opening beginning with the Spring 2020 semester for dual credit Law Enforcement faculty to teach Introduction to Public Safety Careers - Fire, Police, and Emergency Medical Services - I.
Introduction to Public Safety Careers - Fire, Police, and Emergency Medical Services - I introduces three areas of public safety: fire, police, and Emergency Medical Services. Fire content instructs the student on fire department organization and operations, and general aspects of fire science. Police content instructs the student on police department organization and operations, and different criminal justice careers. Emergency Medical Services content instructs the student on emergency medical technician career paths and an introduction to health care professional careers. The students will be trained as a Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT) member.
A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field, and a minimum of one year of law enforcement work experience are required. Also required is current employment by Evanston Township High School in a teaching position.
Additional law enforcement work experience, and a Master's degree in Criminal Justice or related field (or Juris Doctor degree) are preferred.

Part-time instructors are hired on a semester-by-semester basis. A reasonable effort is made to assure the assignment of courses to more senior part-time faculty who are fully qualified by virtue of their education, training, work experience as related to current technology and pedagogical techniques, and who have had a history of successful performance at Oakton Community College.
All assignments are conditioned on sufficient enrollment. Once a course starts, the part time faculty member is expected to complete the course.
