Research Assistant II - Georgetown University Medical Center

Requirements

The Research Technician II develops solutions to complex problems which require the regular application of scientific principles in order to conduct experimental tests and procedures in a research laboratory. S/he performs routine tasks in a research environment, assists staff in laboratory, and dispenses supplies to laboratories. The incumbent conducts research experiments independently with supervision and in collaboration with research scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and both undergraduate and graduate student to contribute to an enriching work environment.
  • Performs experiments using tissue culture techniques, western blot analysis, cryo-sectioning, immuno-histo chemistry, protein quantification, and enzyme linked immunosorbent assays.
  • Maintains a detailed and organized notebook that documents experiments accordingly.
  • Provides ready access to all experimental data.
  • Utilizes advanced knowledge of specific scientific protocols to analyze, interpret, and/or make deductions based on data obtained through scientific experimentation.
  • Writes reports and presents data based on findings from experiments conducted for assigned projects.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • B.A/B. S in biological sciences or an appropriate related field; Master's in the biological sciences is preferred
  • At least 1-2 years' lab experience
  • Experience in Neuroscience, preferably Neurodegenerative diseases, is preferred but not required
