Land, Buildings & Real Estate (LBRE) is the operational core of Stanford University’s physical campus. Who We Are /What We Do

Land Buildings and Real Estate (LBRE), Maps and Records has been at the forefront of location-based applications and space management tools for decades. Maps and Records supports operational departments by providing quick access to many different facility data sets. Data is currently stored in the University’s Space Management System (Archibus). Building floor plans are hosted on a web-server for users to view and download.Floor plans are the key to location information and heavily relied upon by all Stanford departments.

Maps and Records is reviewing 3D technology, including Augmented Reality tools.Maps and Records is dedicated to bringing time saving tools to operational staff in the field.The foundation information for these future applications depends on accurate AutoCAD and Revit building models and space data.

Maps and Records seeks a CAD/Revit Technician to support the University’s Space Management system.

This position will report to the Manger of Facilities Information Services within LBRE, Maps and Records.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating architectural and facilities CAD drawings and Revit building models using "as-built" record drawings and conducting field inspections of University facilities.

  • Measuring, documenting and drafting physical space tracked by the University, including whole buildings and partial building renovations.

  • Interpreting architectural drawings in order to determine wall measurements and thickness, window and door locations and creating new or updating existing drawings using both AutoCAD and Revit.

  • Conducting an inventory of rooms in one or more buildings to compare current conditions to existing floor plan documentation.

  • Developing and enforcing CAD and BIM standards and procedures to ensure integrity of facilities information specifications.

  • Assisting with researching, comparing, and evaluating new technology to manage facilities information.

  • Assisting with questions relating to centralized space data such as room numbers, room types, and area calculations. Provide user support for the space editing application.

  • Creating and maintaining building floor plans in AutoCAD utilizing menus that integrate floor plans with the University’s Archibus Space Management application.

  • Providing facilities information to University departments and external consultants.

  • Displaying your organizational skills by coordinating logistics and materials, and interfacing with Stanford operational staff, departments and external consultants.

  • Composing, formatting, preparing, and distributing routine communications and materials.

  • Adhere to BIM Execution Plan and BIM project workflow criteria.

  • Follow BIM content standards and development procedures.

  • Flexibility in completing any other assigned duties.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

  • One flavor of BIM platform such as REVIT Architecture.

  • Eager to support staff with positive attitude, passion and patience.

  • Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion.

  • Revit model management administration and maintenance skills

  • AutoCAD skills for drafting, reporting, exporting and database linkage.

  • Demonstrated success in following through and completing routine tasks.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated excellence in task management and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/ priorities simultaneously

  • Strong analytical and business skills

In Addition, preferred requirements include:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Proficiency in computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.
