Student and HR Systems Developer

The Stanford University Student and HR Systems team is responsible for the support, maintenance, operations and upgrades of the HR and Student applications. Collaborating with the Technical Manager of Campus Solutions and HR Systems group within Enterprise Technology (ET), PeopleSoft Developer will be applying a strong combination of technical skills. The developer will be responsible for executing all programming tasks, including programming, analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, modifying, and maintaining computer programs. You should have confirmed a track record of conceptualizing and developing enterprise wide information systems that meets user requirements and is secure, reliable, scalable, and extensible.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and document modules and components and their interfaces, using PeopleSoft Development Tools including Application Engine, Component Interface, Security, Application Designer (version 8.50 or higher), PeopleCode, COBOL, DataMover, SQR, PS Query, Integration Broker, BI Publisher, Component Interfaces, Portal.

  • Work in a collaborative environment to develop and support PeopleSoft and other applications, using version control, software configuration and release management practices.

  • Identify and tackle problems with PeopleSoft using quantitative and qualitative analysis and strong problem solving and debugging skills.

  • Work with a variety of users to gain information, and develop intra-system tradeoffs between different users, as necessary; interact with a diverse client base and outside vendor contacts.

  • Document system builds and application configurations; maintain and update documentation as needed.

  • Provide technical analysis, design, development, conversion, and implementation work.

  • Work as a project leader, as needed, for projects of moderate complexity.

  • Serve as a technical resource for applications.

  • Compare, evaluate, and implement new features and technologies, and integrate them into the computing environment.

  • Follow team software development methodology.

  • Mentor lower level software developers.

  • Apply knowledge of SDLC and quality assurance practices to develop technical specifications to ensure compliance with System Development Lifecycle methods.

  • Address issues related to system stability, scalability, performance and security.

  • Build and maintain complex real-time integrations between systems.

  • Build custom bolt-on solutions to address gaps in system functionality and business processes or system limitations.

  • Other duties may also be assigned


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology and five years of relevant experience.

  • 5 years progressive post-baccalaureate experience in positions involving PeopleSoft application development preferred.

  • Expertise in designing, developing, testing, and deploying applications.

  • Proficiency with application design and data modeling.

  • Ability to define and solve logical problems for highly technical applications.

  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical clients.

  • Ability to lead activities on structured team development projects.

  • Ability to select, adapt, and effectively use a variety of programming methods.

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft architectural components including BEA Enterprise, Apache, Tomcat, PeopleSoft Internet Architecture.

  • Experience with Unix, Linux, Java Script, Java/J2EE.

  • Three years experience with PeopleSoft Functional Modules, including PeopleSoft Human Capital Management, North American Payroll, Campus Solutions, Enterprise Learning Management and Portal Administration.

  • Experience with PeopleSoft Upgrades.
