Located in DeLand, Florida, Stetson University’s School of Business Administration seeks a dynamic educator to lead one of the premiere student-managed investment programs in the country.
The Roland George Student Investment Program (RGIP) is the result of an initial gift of $500,000 donated to Stetson University in 1980 by Sarah George and a subsequent $2 million gift from her estate to establish the Roland and Sarah George Institute for Educational and Investments Research. The current RGIP portfolio is $3.8 million in stock and bonds.
The search for the Roland & Sarah George Professor of Investments will consider highly-qualified individuals with interest in a tenured, tenure track or Professor of Practice position. The next RGIP professor will have an earned doctorate in finance or related field from an AACSB-accredited institution, a demonstrated passion for teaching excellence in the field of finance and investments, and a record of publishing in respected journals and professional activity. Backgrounds in multiple areas of finance including portfolio management, investments, derivatives and security analysis are preferred. Candidates are also expected to have significant relevant industry experience in investment management, portfolio management and/or security analysis industries. Candidates with the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) certification are strongly preferred.
The Roland & Sarah George Professor of Investments is responsible for administering the student-managed investment portfolio and developing a vision for the RGIP in collaboration with the Director of the Roland and Sarah George Institute. These duties include instructing and mentoring RGIP students as they manage the portfolio’s income and growth-oriented investment funds.
The RGIP professor serves within the Department of Finance, a unit dedicated to mentoring students interested in earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in either Finance or Economics. The department offers a finance major with concentrations in corporate finance, investments and financial planning, along with a business economics major.
RGIP is also an integral part of Stetson's School of Business Administration, one of less than 190 elite business schools that have both business and accounting programs accredited by AACSB International. The business school is well-known for its academically-rigorous learning environment. In small classes and beyond, faculty mentors help students achieve their academic and professional goals.
Founded in 1883, Stetson University is a private, selective university comprised of a rich array of liberal arts and professional academic programs. Collectively, Stetson’s faculty works with nearly 4,000 students in undergraduate, graduate and professional programs.
