Job Description Summary

The Financial Aid Specialist is responsible to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid Services for all the manual review processes in Financial Aid as they relate to the awarding of financial aid recipients.


Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration and active support of the University’s Mission and Catholic and Lasallian higher education.

-Review all Comment Codes related to default, aggregate loan limits, Pell LEU, Income discrepancies, etc.
-Make follow-up phone calls or emails to new and returning students concerning the completion of their financial aid files.
-Assist with answering phone calls and walk in customers.
-Research and resolve financial aid inconsistencies.
-Assist with verification of student files as needed
-Review the RCRSUSP process of suspended FAFSA’s due to duplicates or non-matched Student Records
-Assist with Direct Loan, ISAC MAP, and Pell awarding, reconciliation as needed.
-Serve on university committees and/or task forces as assigned.
-Present financial aid materials and processes to small groups and outside organizations.
-Attend seminars, training, and conferences as needed.
-Perform additional job related duties as delegated by the Assistant Director or Director of Financial Aid Services

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred with preference given to Business Administration, Counseling, or Psychology. Minimum three years experience in financial aid or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Five or more years experience in financial aid or related field
