The UNC Department of Medicine is seeking applicants for a fixed term full-time appointment at the rank of Research Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program using cellular and molecular biology to study polycystic kidney disease (PKD) and how inflammation affects PKD. Responsibilities will include independent research, writing peer reviewed manuscripts, acquisition of grant support, and providing training and research support to graduate students, fellows, and clinicians.

Educational Requirements

The qualified candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline plus postdoctoral experience.

Qualifications and Experience

A strong background in genetics, cellular biology, and familiarity with pathology and immunology is required. Candidate must have thorough knowledge of single-cell RNA sequencing, immune subsets-particularly macrophage biology, and kidney disease. The candidate should have a strong history of establishing productive collaborations, as well as a proven track record in the field of molecular and cellular pathology and kidney disease, as evidenced by publications in high profile journals and an ability to attain external funding.
