Physical RequirementsThis position will require candidate to sit for long periods of time, walking to/from clinics and meetings, working in front of a computer for long periods, lifting pushing pulling of objects up to 30 lbs on occasion.
Shift8 hour, day shift, Mon-Fri for a 40 hr week. Regular hours 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with a ½ lunch and 2-15 min. breaks. Occasional adjustment to shift to accommodate Div. meetings and special events may be necessary. Compensation is given during the week to off-set the shift adjustments.This is a Plan B employee.
Job SummaryThe Division of Pediatric Surgery within the Department of Surgery is seeking a Patient Services Coordinator.
This position is the liaison between the patient and physician to schedule pediatric surgery in the Chandler Medical Center (MOR) and the Center for Advanced Surgery (CAS). All levels of the surgery scheduling process are expected to be completed in a professional and timely manner.
Other responsibilities within the Division include a high volume of telephone service and assisting clinically to greet and register patients and schedule appointments. This position also provides back up to the other Division personnel to cover overflow and time off.
Skills / Knowledge / AbilitiesGood communication skills, ability to multi-task, good organizational skills.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? NoPreferred Education/ExperienceSix or more years related experience in surgery scheduling preferred.
An additional two or more of these years related experience with medical coding, insurance prior authorizations and phone triage preferred.

Research
In fiscal year 2016, the University of Kentucky was awarded $316.5 million in external grants and contracts.
