 JobSummary:

 Research technologist (Professional ResearchAssistant) sought for a molecular virology laboratory that investigates RNAvirus replication and innate immunity to RNA viruses in cultured cells and in mice.Experience working with mice, core molecular biology skills (plasmid cloning inE. Coli, gels, Westerns, PCR etc.), lab maintenance, ordering supplies and cellculture preferred. Mouse genotyping and colony maintenance skills would beideal but are not required. The lab is busy, friendly, interactive and involvedin very interesting projects. We are looking for someone with a gung-ho,interactive personality who wants to immerse in our science and contribute. Wemostly do basic science but are now also funded for one project involvingclinical samples, from which RNA has to be isolated. We can teach you thetechniques for all of these projects. 

 Examplesof Work Performed:

 Responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting lab personnel with in vitro cell culture.
  • Assisting with mouse experiments.
  • Making common use buffers and lab reagents.
  • Cloning plasmids in E. coli.
  • Processing clinical lab samples.
  • RNA and DNA purification.
  • Western blotting.
  • Ordering supplies.
  • Potentially working with a zebrafish model (prior experience notrequired).
  • Keeping a clean lab environment.
  • Interacting with clinical personnel Dr. Poeschla will liaisonwith to obtain blood urine and saliva for a clinical study on RNA-baseddiagnosis.



  • QualificationsMinimumRequirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science related field
  • Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities

    Experience with cell culture and mouse experimentsExperience working in a research lab. Ability to work independently and as part of team.Excellent communication skills.Flexibility, multi-tasking.
