Basic Function

The IT Manager reports to the Dean of Learning and Technology Resources (LTR). The incumbent collaborates with campus and college personnel in order to promote effective use and delivery of College information systems. This position serves as a hands-on IT leader and specialist that provides technical IT support to the campus. The IT Manager schedule requires flexibility to include rotating evenings and Saturdays.

Duties and Responsibilities

Manage and supervise all campus and off-site campus IT operations, and staff including IT Technicians, and Computer Lab employees. Manage the procurement, installation, maintenance, and operation of the campus local area network; the trouble shooting of software, hardware, or network problems and equipment; and planning, implementation, and support for campus computer-related projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems or related field; or equivalent applicable training and experience.
• Experience with supporting local area networks with 600 or more users.
• Extensive experience with the latest Microsoft Server operating systems, all Microsoft Applications, Veritas backup software, VoIP knowledge and basic working knowledge of Cisco routers and switches.
• Extensive experience in setting-up, configuring, and maintaining a variety of servers.
• Previous experience supervising/managing a team.
•Experience serving as the lead hands-on IT support specialist.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with virtualization, cloud computing, and mobile computing technology
• Previous IT experience in the Higher Education sector
• Previous experience with PeopleSoft Software.
•Experience deploying computer images over a network.
•Experience developing, implement and enforcing guidelines and policies for management of technology equipment.
•Extensive knowledge of all multimedia equipment operations.
•Experience negotiating terms of work and establish working relationships with vendors; ensuring work is completed on time and within guidelines.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to effectively manage multiple active service areas on campus and collaborate with central IT administration.
• Ability to analyze evaluate, research, and interpret technical specifications/documents and make recommendations for all campus equipment for procurement.
• Extensive knowledge of technology trends and ability to provide training to campus community on technology.
• Ability to plan, develop, organize, and implement campus technology plans.
• Ability to provide leadership to the campus IT department, supervise, and manage technology equipment located in multiple areas throughout the campus and off site locations; including offices, classrooms, and computer labs.
•Ability to manage an accurate campus equipment inventory.
• Ability to develop, implement and enforce guidelines and policies for management of technology equipment on campus.
• Ability to conduct, interpret, and initiate changes based on annual surveys of service level agreement.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships and manage relationships among staff and multiple departments on and off campus.
•Ability to negotiate terms of work and establish working relationships with vendors; ensuring work is completed on time and within guidelines.
• Ability to mediate/resolve conflicts, and communicate effectively among personnel.
• Extensive knowledge of all multimedia equipment operations.
• Extensive knowledge of networking typologies and communications equipment, computer/network installation and diagnostic packages, computer/network software and hardware configurations, knowledge of backup software for servers, knowledge of local and wide area networking.
• Extensive knowledge of supervisory principles and practices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage subordinate employee performance, including employee training, establishing and monitoring employee performance and expectations, mentoring and planning employee professional development, conflict resolution, implementing disciplinary procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with both technical and non-technical personnel.
• Strong interpersonal skills with excellent time management skills.
