Incumbent’s primary focus will be research for the benefit of the Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE). Position holder will conduct, evaluate, disseminate and communicate research findings to diverse audiences.The Assistant Research Economist will perform duties as the Center’s senior level economist while also assisting the Executive Director with all external corporate outreach.

The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Business invites applications for an Assistant Research Economist position in the Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE). This is a non-tenure earning staff 12 month appointment.

The Assistant Research Economist is the Center’s senior level economist and is expected to (i) collaborate with other researchers to determine research needs related to real estate economics, (ii) design and conduct research projects, (iii) synthesize and analyze data to form conclusions, models and trends, (iv) write both technical reports and non-technical industry articles based on research findings, and (v) present findings to various industry and government audiences (this includes professional development offerings for both industry and self). The jobholder will also lead Center research division that shall develop, market and maintain income producing research products, services, projects, and programs to industry stakeholders that enhance the level of knowledge and professionalism industry-wide; this includes planning, promotion, implementation, and execution of “diversified” research platforms.The individual will serve as a research ambassador targeted toward medium to large corporate real estate entities; responsible for managing and growing new Center research/consulting opportunities designed to serve industry and generating Center revenue. This position will increase awareness of the ACRE Research Division and its resources by promoting ACRE through various forms of communication including, but not limited to speaking at industry events, attending professional events, and digital platforms. The jobholder will participate in new and creative research communication streams, such as podcasts and webinars, to promote ACRE resources to industry stakeholders and the general public. The individual will also (i) work closely with Culverhouse faculty to foster collaborative research and new knowledge and (ii) practice in an entrepreneurial fashion, leveraging existing and new relationships to grow the Center’s reach and depth with corporate real estate entities.

Required minimum Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, and other Sciences, or related field with a minimum of twenty (20) years of professional work experience closely related to the position.
•Ability to lead and manage diverse groups of individuals, including student interns, through the planning, development and conduct of major research products, services, projects and programs
•Proven proficiency with research databases/software applications, computer systems and programs including, but not limited to, word processing, excel and database management software, website CMS, and CRM Software
•Excellent written and oral communication skills; Excellent presentation and public relations skills; organizational skills and ability to multitask effectively
•Experience and demonstrated success in the corporate real estate services/analyst environment
•Demonstrated experience in conceptualizing, designing, and implementing dynamic research products and services for the corporate real estate industry

Preferred Qualifications:
•Industry wide reputation of subject matter expertise highlighted by regularly presenting at professional and industry conferences. Holder of at least one professional credential/designation recognized and issued by best-in-class industry associations such as the Appraisal Institute or CCIM Institute

This is a non-tenure-earning staff position. Salary is competitive.
