The UC Berkeley, Graduate School of Education (GSE) seeks an individual to serve as the administrative lead and coordinator for the Leadership for Educational Equity Program (LEEP), an Ed.D. program in the GSE. This professional doctorate program prepares working educational leaders who aspire to create broader equity oriented change through leadership in complex educational systems. In parallel to the Principal Leadership Institute (PLI)-an MA program that prepares teachers who are interested in school leadership-LEEP's doctoral studies focus on system or executive leadership. Both LEEP and PLI are programs advised by the GSE Committee on Academic Leadership (CAL), comprised of Senate and Clinical faculty members.

LEEP is committed to helping students complete a rigorous course of study in the context of their busy professional lives. Coursework lasts for 27 months, so that graduates have the opportunity to leave within three years with an Ed.D. degree. The program begins with an eight-week Summer session, during which classes meet three full days per week. During Fall and Spring semesters, classes meet every other weekend. Classes meet at the Berkeley campus or are field-based and Web-facilitated. Many LEEP courses are taught by Berkeley faculty and distinguished educational leaders.

Responsibilities: The LEEP Administrative Director will work with the Committee on Academic Leadership, GSE faculty, and operational staff to ensure achieving the full mission of the program. Responsibilities include: recruitment and application review, curriculum alignment, development of program policies, student support, managing the program budget, and coordinating related activities. The LEEP Administrative Director will supervise program staff and coordinate with a variety of other personnel in non-supervisory capacities. This will be a 100% position.

Basic qualifications: Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent international degree at the time of application.

Additional qualifications: The successful candidate will have experience as a system or executive leader in an educational setting, possession of the Clear Administrative Services Credential, and a minimum of three years teaching experience. Additional qualifications must be met by the start date of the job.

Preferred qualifications: Working knowledge of Ed.D. programs including program planning and evaluation experience, project management experience, successful collaboration with multiple groups/entities, expertise in leadership development and professional development in K-12 public education contexts. Strong writing abilities in academic and administrative contexts. Entrepreneurial experience with grant writing and other resource generation preferred. Possession of a California Clear Administrative Services Credential is preferred.

The Graduate School of Education is interested in candidates who have contributed to diversity and equal opportunity in education. Qualified women and members of underrepresented minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Salary is commensurate with experience but typically begins at $101,478. The payroll classification for this position is Academic Coordinator. UC Berkeley has an excellent benefits package as well as a number of policies and programs to support employees as they balance work and family.
