Under general supervision, plans, organizes, and coordinates the use and integration of electronic research resources and technology in faculty teaching and research and in library collections and services. Oversees library operations and services during weekend and evening hours.

Essential Duties Summary

Plans, coordinates, and supervises library services and operations, including circulation, reserve, collection management, and photocopy services, during the evening and weekend hours. Ensures compliance with University and library policies and procedures. Provides general legal reference and research services to students, faculty, and public library patrons, with particular emphasis on electronic resources such as CD-ROM databases and the Internet. Manages the development and teaching of computer-assisted legal research instructional programs. Provides electronic current awareness service for faculty. Prepares user aids such as bibliographies, user guides, research and instructional-based pathfinders, exhibits, and newsletters on the library. Performs on-line database searches. Develops documentation and guides for electronic resources. Assists in supervising and training student workers. Compiles and maintains statistical data for various reports related to reference services, library services and departmental activities. Participates in the process to review, evaluate, and select electronic resources for library collection development. Assists in the development and updating of the content of the law library Web pages. Serves as library liaison with database vendors. Acts as liaison to faculty regarding electronic research projects. Recommends policies and procedures and coordinates user services with other library departments. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited Law School required. In addition a Master’s of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited Library School is preferred.

Handles sensitive, complex, and/or confidential information.

Anticipates customer needs and regularly motivates or influences others to deliver customer service excellence. May troubleshoot highly sensitive or confidential issues. Personally ensures problem resolution. Identifies barriers to effective customer service and sets customer service standards. Establishes a customer feedback system and holds self accountable for customer service excellence within the department or program.

Working/Environmental Conditions

Work is performed within routine office environment with no exposure to hazardous or unpleasant conditions. Physical demands are usually limited to sitting or standing in one location much of the time. Some stooping, lifting or carrying objects of light weight may be required.
