Assistant Director for Student Support, Resources, and Technology

Job description

William & Mary, a highly-selective public university located in Virginia, seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Director for Student Support, Resources, and Technology in the Dean of Students Office. The Assistant Director provides general student support and advising and communicates with faculty and parents as appropriate. The Assistant Director reviews and triages incoming reports received in the university’s Care reporting system, receives and addresses Care reports in a timely manner, monitors staff management of their assigned reports, and manages the unit’s several software modules.

The successful candidate must have experience working with a college-aged population and an understanding of their developmental needs.  The candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to student well-being and development and must possess solid technical skills including experience working with databases, attention to detail. 

Required qualifications also include a Master’s degree in College Student Affairs Administration, Counseling, or related field by the date of appointment, excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, exceptional problem solving and referral skills, and the ability to work within a diverse setting with students, faculty, student affairs staff, and family members, the ability to develop, organize and manage effective systems that create new efficiencies, and solid technical skills and the ability to learn new technology resources. 

It is highly desirable for the Assistant Director to have at least two years’ experience working in a higher education setting and experience working in student development or Dean of Students administration.  Preference also will be given for experience working with student affairs database programs or equivalent experience.
