The School of Accounting, Finance, Information Systems and Business Law is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position beginning academic year 2020-2021. The successful candidate will bring areas of teaching and research that complement and integrate with those of existing accounting faculty. Applicants should possess interest in teaching in at least one of the following areas: auditing, tax, forensics and/or financial accounting. The normal teaching load is 3 courses (nine SCH) per semester and is balanced with principles level courses.

The successful candidate will be expected to advise students, be involved in appropriate student organizations as well as fulfill normal institutional service obligations. Ability to maintain an active research agenda resulting in scholarship in refereed journals and/or law reviews is required. Candidates should have a strong record or show strong promise to contribute to the intellectual and practical lives of students and other stakeholders of the School, College, University, and the business community.

This appointment will be at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, with employment beginning in August 2020. Teaching experience and scholarship record should be commensurate with the rank sought. The successful candidate must meet the AACSB accreditation requirements regarding academic qualification of College of Business faculty. The AACSB requirements for academic qualification mandate a minimum level of relevant research and publication. Therefore, the ability to maintain an active research agenda resulting in scholarship in peer-reviewed journals is expected.

Primary duty assignment will be the main campus in Cullowhee. However, the duty assignment may involve delivery of graduate classes at WCU’s Biltmore Park location in Asheville, NC and/or online instruction.

The successful candidate will be expected to advise undergraduate students and fulfill normal institutional service obligations.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this PositionMinimum Qualifications

Doctoral degree with a concentration in Accounting from an appropriately accredited institution that satisfies credentialing under both AACSB and SACS guidelines. ABD candidates will be considered but must have the terminal degree conferred prior to December 31, 2020. The position requires teaching excellence and potential for strong scholarly productivity.

Preferred Qualifications

Undergraduate and/or graduate teaching experience. Established record of intellectual contributions. Relevant work experience. Preference may be given to an applicant with a CPA license.
