Admission Coach-International Students
General Statement of Responsibilities
Executes approved student recruitment activities for College by providing information to prospective students, parents, employers, and community members about admission policies, entry processes, and program information. Works with Assistant Director in meeting strategic enrollment goals by developing and implementing recruiting strategies for specific populations for College programs per the annual recruitment plan. Reviews transfer transcripts for placement test waivers and overrides course prerequisites.
Works under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Admissions and Recruitment.
Supervision is not a responsibility of this position. May oversee student workers.
- Implements recruitment activities including scheduling visits to high schools; attending fairs; building relationships with high school counselors, and program and event coordinators; attending community and service organization events; and distributing recruitment materials.
- Assembles marketing materials for outreach activities; maintains client management system database to collect, enter, track, and follow up with prospects. Assists in promoting events and programs as assigned.
- Maintains accurate information about college programs, articulation agreements, admission requirements, partnership agreements, financial aid and scholarships, and student support programs. Attends training sessions as assigned.
- Implements communications plans for student recruitment.
- Effectively assesses needs of, and provides advice and coaching to, prospective students. Communicates program, policy, admission, and service information; provides resources and/or connects prospective students with faculty and campus resources to assist with students' decision-making.
- Reviews transfer transcripts and grant placement test waivers; overrides course prerequisites as appropriate.
- Advises Assistant Director on recruitment trends, other schools' efforts, prospective student feedback, and inquiry trends.
- Collects and evaluates recruiting materials from other institutions.
- Responds to prospective student inquiries and provides campus tours.
- Maintains ethical standards as outlines by PNACAC; actively learns about various aspects of the profession.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience: A Bachelor's Degree in business, social science, human services or a related field and two years' experience in admissions, recruiting, or sales is required, including six months' customer service/office administration experience, are required. Community college, international student recruitment, and international travel/study experience are preferred.
Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.
Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for the requirement(s).
License: For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License and proof of an acceptable driving record are required. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).
Knowledge of: Office practices and principles; Microsoft Office Suite ® products; publishing and presentation software; effective e-mail communication and management; office equipment including presentation equipment; customer service concepts. Knowledge of post-secondary educational systems including assessment, admissions, financial aid, and advising preferred.
Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills including college-level writing; excellent customer service skills; excellent public speaking and presentation preparation skills; computer skills. Proficiency in conversational Spanish preferred.
Ability to: Work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds in team-oriented workplace; work independently; learn and deliver effective recruiting strategies; develop and make presentations; prepare reports; resolve problems; prioritize and plan work; work in a fast-paced environment; communicate with a wide range of contacts; address needs of a wide range of prospective students; travel within Jackson and Josephine counties; travel throughout the state on overnight trips; work weekends and evenings.

Manual dexterity and coordination are required for over half of the daily work period (about 50%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires some mobility including the ability to move materials less than 5 pounds daily, 5-25 pounds weekly, and 25-60 lbs. occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate.
This is a Full-time Classified position in the Enrollment Services department. Starting compensation is entry level for Group 6 on the 2019-20 Classified Salary Schedule.
