The University of North Alabama (UNA) invites qualified candidates for an exciting employment opportunity in the position of Executive Director, Governmental Relations and Economic Development.  As a direct report to the University President, the incumbent will actively engage in political processes that benefit the University while also interacting with faculty, staff, students, and alumni on issues related to governmental affairs.  Additionally, the incumbent will serve as the principal administrator responsible for the coordination, promotion, and oversight of University activities related to economic development.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Communications, Public Relations, or other related major and a minimum of five years of progressive experience working in governmental relations or public affairs as an advocate, working as an official, or other comparable experience.  Preference will be given to candidates with a master’s degree and/or experience in higher education in addition to the aforementioned qualifications.
