Job Details
The Data Analytics Specialist provides reporting, statistical analysis and visualizations that support strategic planning, student success tracking, enrollment management, accreditation, and federal and state compliance.
Detailed Job DescriptionMinimum RequirementsBachelor’s degree in a relevant field and one year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be from appropriately accredited universities and colleges.
List the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential functions of the position-Demonstrated knowledge of statistical analysis tools such as SAS, SPSS, or Stata
-Demonstrated knowledge of business intelligence tools such as SAS Visual Analytics or Tableau
-Expertise developing queries using relational databases
-Demonstrated knowledge of data analytics and research principles and study design
-Demonstrated ability to work on multi-functional project teams
-Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
-Master’s degree earned or in progress from an accredited institution in a relevant field
-Data Science experience
-Experience in higher education
-Expertise using report writing software such as SQL Server Reporting Services.
-Expertise using SQL programming language in a SQL editor environment
-Experience with student information systems like Banner or Peoplesoft
The Office of Institutional Research and Planning falls within the division of Academic Affairs. IRP includes three primary areas Institutional Research, Institutional Effectiveness, and Space Planning & Management. IRP is responsible for federal, state and UNC System reporting of student and faculty & staff information; annual survey data collection and completion; space inventory information; space planning; non-academic unit assessment; providing data support for institutional and system reporting needs; supporting institutional accreditation activities.
