Job Details
The General Utility Worker will perform a variety of routine and non-routine semi-skilled work within the Housekeeping Department. This position will be assigned a partial routine on a daily basis as well as provide specialized duties throughout the campus as needed. Provide a limited range of light maintenance or skilled floor maintenance duties performed on a rotating cycle such as cleaning vents/entrances/light maintenance, carpet and floor maintenance, minor repairs on vacuum cleaners and/or other mechanical equipment. Duties may include physically strenuous activities such as moving furniture, operating heavy cleaning equipment, and may use special equipment such as ladders, pressure washers, or backpack vacuums. Position requires knowledge of established floor cleaning techniques and must be familiar with equipment maintenance. This position will also provide general housekeeping duties as a backup for housekeeping vacancies and will be responsible for duties required for special events held in multi-purpose facilities. Understands and meets the specific cleaning needs of each building. Delivers housekeeping supplies when needed to pre-arranged buildings. Assists with training for new hires. Provides general housekeeping duties on an intermittent basis as a backup for housekeeping vacancies and will be responsible for duties required for special events held in multi-purpose facilities. May have leadership responsibilities in absence of Zone Manager. Provides backup support for special projects and other activities, as needed. On-call during weekends, holidays, extreme weather conditions, etc. Maintain bathrooms in a sanitary state. Replenish paper supplies and soap as necessary. Empty trash and recycling receptacles as needed. Understand and meet the needs of work requests.
