Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume)

Doctoral Degree (Foreign equivalent or higher degree) in hand by June 30, 2020.  


Preferred Qualifications:

PhD (Foreign equivalent or higher degree) in Neuroscience or Physiology in hand by June 30, 2020. Experience with slice electrophysiology. Experience with slice and/or in vivo imaging techniques. Experience working with rodents.


Brief Description of Duties:

The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the Department of Neurobiology & Behavior in studying basal ganglia function and neural adaptations in disease states including rodent models of obsessive compulsive disorder.  The Postdoctoral Associate will use electrophysiological and 2-photon imaging techniques to understand how alterations in basal ganglia microcircuitry and synaptic plasticity may lead to obsessive compulsive-like behaviors. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University, and will be responsible for the following:

    Lead research project on the neural adaptations in OCD-like behaviors, within the predetermined research scope and methodologies. Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in the related field to analyze the collected data.

    Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.

    Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance, mouse care and ordering of supplies as needed. 

    Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. Such duties may include attending scientific meetings.
